Naperville, IL – March 15th, 2021 – The KLA Schools of Naperville and Plainfield pride themselves on being partners with their families.  The partnerships are formed through the many events and feature the program has implemented.  Most recently, they have rolled out a new Parent Portal called Vrutti.  Selvei Rajkumar, the managing director of the schools, says, “this has been a concept I have been working on for some time.  I took all the wonderful information and resources from our former portal and rolled them into this new platform that is more intuitive and easier to navigate.  It is overall a better experience for the families, and we are thrilled to have it available to them now”.  Selvei also added that “the feedback from our parents has been unanimously positive. We plan to keep evolving as the need arises”.

The Schools also have many events that are taking place in March.  The first event is Parent’s Night; this is an opportunity for parents to get a glimpse of what the children have been working on this school year and where project documentation is shared.  Heather Fugate, the school principal at the Naperville location, says, “the teachers prepare for this event all school year, documenting the learning process is a key feature of the Reggio Emilia learning philosophy.  Our parents get an overview of how much the children have learned and grown throughout the school year.  We are grateful to have so much parent involvement; the event has a lot of parent participation”.

Another upcoming event is the Spring Parent-Teacher Conferences.  This event involves the parents and teachers meeting to discuss and go over the children’s assessments and observations from the previous semester.  Erica Koegel, the school principal at Plainfield, says, “this is an excellent opportunity for the parents and teachers to connect and share information about the child.  Partnering with our parents is of the things that make our programs stand out in the community.  The conferences are one of the best ways for us to strengthen the relationships”.

Some other events to note are Spirit Week and the Taps and Tenders reading challenge.

Spirit week coincided with Dr. Suess’s birthday, so in honor of the legendary author, the schools had a special theme day and corresponding book for the children. The reading challenge was added to promote reading during the month as well.  Taps and Tenders, a local restaurant, offered to award readers who meet the reading goals awards for free food. Jim Tetenhorst, Taps and Tenders’ owner, says, “it is a pleasure for them to incentivize the children to read more.”

Although the COVID-19 vaccine has been starting to be widely distributed throughout the community, Carrie Hemmer, the health and safety spokesperson for KLA, says, “We are committed to ongoing top-notch health and safety practices for as long as necessary during this pandemic. In no way are we letting down our guard at this point.  We will continue to implement all the practices we have since the virus emerged. Our parents and community are counting on us to do what is best for our children and team”.

KLA has open enrollment right now and is offering personalized virtual and in-person Saturday visits by appointment.  Please contact Carrie Hemmer, our admissions director, to schedule a visit to the schools.
